Licensing
PT Peek requires an iLok license, activated to an iLok USB key or to a computer (machine license), for full functionality. Without a license, the Quick Look preview and session browser show limited information (session setup and overview only; tracks, clips, and audio files are obscured).
Getting a License
PT Peek licenses are available through your iLok account. You need:
- An iLok.com account — create one at ilok.com if you don't have one
- A PT Peek license deposited to your account
Activating
Licenses can be activated to an iLok USB key or to a computer (machine license).
- Open PT Peek
- Go to Help → Activate License…
- Enter your iLok Login ID
- Click Sign in with iLok — your default web browser opens to complete iLok sign-in
- After signing in, return to PT Peek
- Choose whether to activate the license to your computer or to a connected iLok USB key
- Follow the prompts to complete activation
Once activated, the license picker shows full details for each license — type, activation date, expiration (if any), and the number of remaining activations.
Deactivation
Deactivating a license returns it to your iLok account so it can be activated somewhere else (for example, on a new computer). You can do this from inside PT Peek — you don't need iLok License Manager.
- Open PT Peek
- Go to Help → Deactivate License…
- Enter your iLok Login ID and click Sign in with iLok — your default web browser opens to complete iLok sign-in
- After signing in, return to PT Peek — a list of your current activations appears
- Click the activation you want to deactivate (each entry shows the product name and where it's activated — this computer or an iLok USB key)
- Click Deactivate to confirm
Once complete, the license returns to your iLok account and is available for a fresh activation.
Moving a license to a new computer
If your license is activated to a computer, deactivate it on the old computer first (steps above), then activate it on the new one. If your license is activated to an iLok USB key, just plug the key into the new computer — no deactivation needed.
License Status
The license status appears in the session browser:
- Licensed — all sections show full detail
- Unlicensed — a banner appears with options to activate or download the demo session
- License expired — PT Peek checks periodically; if the license lapses, content is obscured until renewed
Demo Session
You can try PT Peek without a license using the built-in demo session, which displays with full detail regardless of license status. See Demo Session for details on downloading and using it.
